On Saturday, November 4, 2017, the Graham High theater students went to their first competition of the 2017-2018 school year. The play was The Infamous Soothing System of Professor Maillard. There will be an additional performance on November the thirteenth at Graham High School from 6PM-8PM.
They competed against Tazewell High School, Virginia High School, Lebanon High School, and Marion Senior High at Marion Senior High. Graham came in fourth place. The top two schools move onto the next leg of the competition, Marion and Lebanon moved on.
Director, Ms. Tinsley says, “My expectations were always for the group to do their best and leave it all on the stage. I was incredibly proud of the work they put in this year and what they turned this play into.” Each year Ms. Tinsley looks forward to seeing Tazewell and Marion perform, “Marion is always incredible, but Tazewell definitely stepped up their game this year and did fantastic.”
The Contest Play cast and crew are a family and they were able to bond and become closer at this competition, while they did not move on to the next phase of the competition, they had a great time and did their best. Graham High theater puts their all into every performance and continue to improve each year and with every performance.
