The Mountain Academic Competition Conference, or MACC, has had three competitions so far. MACC is comprised of five teams per school: math, science, history, English, and all around. GHS’s MACC team has competed against  Galax, Fort Chiswell, and  Bland. The next match in on February 8th, against Rural Retreat. The science and history teams have won all of their  matches so far. The math team has won one, tied one, and lost one. The English teams have won one their three matches, and the all around team have won two of their matches.

Math MACC team member Johnathan Du, a sophomore at GHS says that, “MACC is a great opportunity to show  school spirit and show the knowledge that Graham gives its students.” Johnathan Du is participating in MACC because he wants to represent Graham and show what GHS students can do. Science MACC team coach Mrs. Mullins is optimistic that the science team will make it to the Super MACC later this season. She says that MACC is good for the school because, “it gives academically talented people a school team to join.”

Let’s hope that the MACC team continues on with their strong start to the season and make it to the Super MACC. Good luck G-Men.
