On Tuesday, April 17, several students (including myself) participated in the Future Business Leaders of America regional competition at Southwest Virginia Community College. The competition was centered around several subjects relating to business efficiency. Some of these subjects included business basics, accounting, computer sciences and many others.

There were a few first place winners in the competition. Joseph Remines placed first in Cyber Security, while Sam Shoemaker placed first in Business Math, and Brendan Bone who placed first in Personal finance. There was one second place winner, Kolbe Austin, who placed in Business Basics. There were several students who placed third in other categories, such as myself, in the Accounting competition, Chris Spease in Basic Economics, Madison Repass in Career Skills, Timothy Gasperson in Webpage Design and Preston Nipper, who placed third in Personal Finance.

The winners were determined by the students’ scores on multiple choice tests for their given subject. Those with the highest scores were put in third, second or first place respectively. After some breaks, lunch and mingling, the results come in. Graham won the competition overall. The group received an honorary plaque for their overall win.
