At the age of sixteen, Kara Murphy (12) went out of the country for the first time. She traveled from Virginia to Mexico with her family for vacation. Her family went canoeing in Mexico, a place famed for its white sunny beaches, ancient Mayan ruins and steep creeks. Then, her family went on a parasailing adventure; they got epic aerial views of the coast and the surrounding aquamarine waters.

Her favorite thing to do in Mexico was getting a massage. Kara nervously said, “ I lied about my age and went and got a massage. They thought I was eighteen when I was actually sixteen. ” She learned in Mexico that people drive very recklessly and said, “I almost died because of it!”

Aruba is a small Dutch Caribbean island located a few miles north of Venezuela in the southern Caribbean. Aruba is famous for its white-sand beaches, temperate climate and because it’s located just below the hurricane belt, the climate is dry and they have very little rain.

In 2019, she and her family went out of the country for the second time, but this time to Aruba.
Her family went snorkeling to see the healthy reefs and sea life, but it offers fewer spots to go snorkeling than its neighboring islands. They also went on a glass bottomed boat tour where they explored Arabas’ rich underwater world without getting wet. They got to see coral reefs, tropical fish, and other marine life while gliding over crystal-clear water exploring mangroves and the open water. Both her and her parents replied,  “It was the most beautiful thing that we saw.”.

Begin a fishing outpost for Amerindians that has changed hands between the Spanish and Dutch throughout the centuries, and is now a diverse constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. That is some of the stuff that she learned when she went to Aruba.

The next country that she was supposed to go with her family was Europe, but with the Coronavirus going around they had to postpone the trip. “I am extremely sad that i can not go to Europe.” Kara also said, “Before going to college I want to go to Mexico and California.”.
